HTZ director meets Ukrainian ambassador

ZAGREB, 27.1.2012.

Ukrainian Ambassador Oleksandr Levchenko held a meeting with the acting director of the Croatian Tourism Board (HTZ), Niko Bulic, in Zagreb on Friday.

Croatia and Ukraine have had a very good cooperation in tourism and it is expected to continue in light of increasingly close ties between tourism business partners in the two countries and an increase in the number of Ukrainians visiting Croatia, it was said at the meeting.

The Ukrainian ambassador said that a growing number of Ukrainians of all age groups were visiting Croatia. More than 50,000 did so in 2011, making 400,000 overnight stays, an increase of 12 and 11 percent respectively in relation to 2010.

Bulic recalled a successful workshop of Ukrainian and Croatian tourism workers in Kiev last week, focusing on ways to additionally encourage Ukrainians to visit Croatia in the pre- and post-season.

In late March, the HTZ will present Croatia's tourism sector at the Ukrainian tourism fair UITT, and in April it will organise an event called Croatian Tourism Day.

Bulic said the HTZ office in Moscow, which covers Ukraine, would organise in April and May meetings in the Ukrainian cities of Donetsk, Kharkov and Dnepropetrovsk to provide travel agents with more information on Croatia's tourism services. (Hina)
