May sees slight fall in tourist bed-nights

The number of tourist bed-nights in commercial accommodation facilities in Croatia fell by around 3% in May 2017 compared with May 2016, although the number of tourist arrivals was up 4.1%, according to figures released by the National Bureau of Statistics (DZS).

A total of 1.2 million tourists stayed in commercial accommodation in Croatia in May 2017, up 4.1% in comparison with May 2016, while the number of bed-nights fell by around 3% to 4.1 million.

The number of domestic tourists was 180,000, or 5.3% more than last year, and they generated 407,400 bed-nights, down 1.6%. The number of foreign tourists increased by 4% and they generated 3.7 million bed-nights, a decrease of 3.6%.

In the first five months of this year, compared with the same period of last year, the number of tourists rose by 15% to nearly 3 million and the number of bed-nights increased by 10% to 8.3 million. (Hina)
