Kristjan Stanicic appointed National Tourist Board director

Kristjan Stanicic is the new director of the Croatian National Tourist Board (HTZ) following a unanimous vote by the HTZ Council, the HTZ said in a press release on Wednesday.

The selection committee, headed by Tourism Minister and HTZ President Gari Cappelli, interviewed seven candidates and unanimously selected Stanicic as the best candidate to fill the position.

"I am very pleased that Kristjan Stanicic has been selected to be the director of HTZ. He is a true professional and has many years of experience in tourism. I am certain that he will contribute to positioning Croatia as one of the most attractive tourist destinations," Cappelli said.

Kristjan Stanicic was born in 1973. He graduated from the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management in Opatija and the Diplomatic Academy in Zagreb. In 2001 he obtained his Master's Degree from the Faculty in Opatija.

He started his career at the Foreign Ministry where he worked from 1996 to 2001. In that period he served as a secretary at the embassy in Ljubljana for three years.

He continued his career in the private sector as assistant director of marketing and sales in the Hoteli Novi company. (Hina)
