Agreement signed to build 5-star hotel in Rovinj

ZAGREB, 1.7.2017.

An agreement has been signed to build a 5-star hotel in the northern coastal town of Rovinj, a project in which the Maistra hotel company will invest HRK 539 million, the Economy Ministry said earlier this week.

The Hotel Park project is expected to have long-term positive effects on the economy of Rovinj, Istria County and Croatia as a whole by increasing the number of beds in 5-star accommodation, increasing revenues from foreign markets, opening 85 new jobs, increasing the revenues and workforce of suppliers of Croatian products and services, increasing employment in the construction sector during the construction of the hotel, and having a positive effect on the country's balance of payments, the ministry said.

The hotel will boast 209 accommodation units, including 190 luxury rooms and 20 suites.

At the end of September 2016, the government declared this hotel a strategic investment project. The hotel will be built on the site of an old one, and is due to open next year. The project is financed with private capital.

Maistra is a member of the Adris tourism and insurance group. (Hina)
