Minister: Tourist trade YTD hints at records

ZAGREB, 21.6.2017.

Croatian Tourism Minister Gari Cappelli on Wednesday expressed satisfaction with excellent results in the tourism industry in the period from the beginning of this year to mid-June.

The minister said that a 22-percent rise in arrivals and a 24-percent in overnight stays indicated record highs for 2017.

The eVisitor and eCrew systems for registration of guests show that the number of guests from 1 January to 18 June increased by 22 percent to 4.5 million on the year, whereas their overnight stays rose by 24 percent to 16.1 million.

German passport-holders were the most numerous visitors with four million overnight stays. Croatian tourists follow with 2.1 million overnight stays. The Austrians rank third (1.6 million).
