PM, tourism minister attends opening of refurbished hotel in Crikvenica

CRIKVENICA, 24.5.2015.

The refurbished Omorika hotel in Crikvenica was opened on Saturday, with Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic and Tourism Minister Darko Lorencin in attendance, and the opening heard that the goal was to return Crikvenica to the top of Croatia's tourism.

Omorika, previously a two-star hotel, now has three stars and 230 beds. The company which operates it, Jadran, invested HRK 7.5 million in the renovation.

Milanovic said Omorika was a state-owned hotel and that the government was slowly taking such hotels out of the state portfolio in favour of private initiatives.

The government turned its claims from Jadran into part-ownership. The refurbishment of Omorika is part of Jadran's investment cycle after successfully coming out of bankruptcy last year.

Lorenicn said a strategic partner would now be sought for Jadran. He said this hotel company's coming out of bankruptcy showed that hotels could be solved and that the results of the work of the State Property Management Office, the Restructuring and Sale Center, and the Tourism Ministry were showing.
