Croatia Visited Prague, Istanbul and New York Tourist Fairs

ZAGREB, 27.2.2006.

During the past days Croatia presented its tourist offers at various fairs around the world. At the Holiday World Fair in Prague, from 23 to 26 February 2006, Croatia presented its tourist offer, tourist industry and local tourist communities. Also presented was the new edition of the UNESCO posters dedicated to the promotion of the Croatian cultural heritage. Another important event was the annual survey TTG Travel Awards. Last year, the TTG survey selected the Prague Office of the Croatian National Tourist Board to be one of the best tourist branch offices.

At Istanbul ended, on 26 February 2006, the 3-day tourist fair Emitt where more than 50 countries have presented their tourist offers. Croatia participated on that fair for the first time. Many Turkish businessmen showed great interest in Croatia’s tourist offer; in March a group of Turkish tour operators will visit Croatia’s tourist destinations, especially those along the Adriatic coast in order to include them in their future tourist offers.

Croatia also presented its tourist attractions at the prestigious New York Times Travel Trade Show on Saturday.

Nena Komarica, the head of the New York Office of the Croatian National Tourist Board, which organized the Croatian stall, explained that judging by the number of people who visited the stall many Americans could decide to spend their holidays in Croatia this summer.

The show featured 500 exhibitors and was covered by numerous travel journalists and local television stations.

Croatia received additional publicity through announcements in The New York Times of performances of the Croatian folk ensemble Linđo from Dubrovnik, who played on the main stage in the Javitz Center where the Travel Trade Show took place.
